World of Color
In 2009 I was hired to work on a new attraction at the California Adventure park across from Disneyland; A water fountain and light spectacular show in their lagoon called "World of Color". I was contacted by Disney Creative Executive Steve Davison and asked to help them create paper puppets and artwork that would be projected onto water screens in the show. This was my first project with the Walt Disney Imagineering group. It was always a life long dream to work for them. I grew up with this company in my life. My dad worked at the animation studio and I grew up going to Disneyland at least 5-10 times a year.
This was the barricade set up to hide the construction happening in the lake.
This Orange was an original part of the California Adventure Park when it opened in 2001. It was removed to give space to The World of Color fountains. The platform with all of the fountains sitting on top were created by engineers that worked to create the fountain show at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas NV. The fountains at the Bellagio Stick out of the water, but Disney wanted their fountains to be submerged under the lake. It turned out to be a tremendous challenge since this platform had to withstand the weight of the water. Welders that specialize in underwater welding were called in to help.
